Is Early Child Development an education/teaching program or just watching kids like day-care?We Answered:
Great question. Unfortunately, child care facilities can get away with using just about any language they like. For instance, a facility may refer to itself as a preschool, a learning center, an early childhood development center, an enrichment facility, etc. No authority is going to stop them or claim that they don't meet the requirements to use that designation.Make no mistake: many facilities that are strictly day-care will use more impressive terms to describe themselves. And so there is no substitute for thoroughly investigating a facility's program. Ask to see their curriculum guide, their lesson plans. When you visit, ask to match up the day's lesson plans with what is actually going on in the classes. Be in control of the process, and don't accept fancy language for anything more than that.

Has your thinking changed regarding Early Childhood Education since teaching or while in school? We Answered:
Well I'm still in college studying but I graduate in a year. I feel like in high school, and when I was younger, I didnt quite understand fully the responsibility put on teachers to educate their students. They have to not only teach them about history and math but also things we dont even think about now that we are older...like reading, writing and social skills for instance. I think society as a whole doesnt understand or even think about how important early childhood education is for our young citizens. When I tell people I'm going to be an elementary school teacher, they always respond with, "I could -never- deal with those kids all day!!" but in my eyes it's way more than that. I feel like some people only see ECE people as baby sitters but in reality, we are setting these children up to be successful in middle, high and even college. They wouldnt succeed without the basic knowledge we instill in them.Tonya Said:
To become a curriculum developer or reviewer for early childhood education do need teaching experience? We Answered:
Not necessarily I studied at Sunderland Uni for a BA hons in Early Childhood Studies and that would probably be better for a position looking at early years education as it specialises on education up to 12 years and also covers up to 16 not as thoroughly. If your already trained then i guess that relevent experience would also suffice. From my experience these days QTS (being a qualified teacher) is not necessary for many of the educational positions anymore and in fact many teachers are unqualified teachers. So long as you can prove the position. There are rare cases when a facility would need a person to have a QTS on their staff (such as a childrens centre may need a teacher who is qualified on their staff to get certain perks like more budget) but it is usually negotiable for equivillant qualification or experience.Hope that helps

My guestion is about Early childhood and education and teaching. How is the job market for this major? We Answered:
With an Associates in Early Childhood, you might be able to secure a position as a paraprofessional in a preschool special education classroom - huge need in the public schools.Overall , the field will be in need of more Early Childhood teachers with more federal money being pumped in Head Start and individual state initiatives to provide free preschool to all children.

Teaching assistant to Early Childhood Education, associates? We Answered:
Depends on where and what sort of setting you want to teach. In a public school, which more and more preschools are popping up, you will need a Bachelor's. For daycare and private preschool setting, an associates will do, but you would really need to check into your state's regulations to see what is required. I know that I had an assistant that had her child development associates and could not teach in the public school setting, but could in a daycare setting with 2 year olds.
