Is it usually difficult to find an Elementary Education teaching job in NJ?We Answered:
It's difficult to get an elementary teaching position almost anywhere. Most new elementary teachers take on substitute positions until hired or get hired by a district and "placed" in temporary teaching positions. Both of these options can be difficult because you are temporary. Hopefully though you get hired by a school and all the while you're getting your feet wet.Phillip Said:
Teaching higher education. I'm considering taking a job teaching at a community college? We Answered:
Teaching degrees are only for people who want to teach K-12. Most people teaching at community colleges have masters degrees in the subject they will be teaching - they don't have degrees in teaching. So for example, an accounting teacher at a cc will have a masters degree in accounting. There are exceptions made for programs like yours, where the demand is very high and there aren't enough people with masters degrees to fill the teaching positions.
In other words, don't worry that you don't have a teaching degree. What you do have is work experience in dental hygiene, and that's why they hired you. You are perfectly qualified to teach this subject.
You do need to plan out your lessons, though. I suggest that you start by getting the syllabus/course outline, the tests, and the textbooks. Go through each of the things you need to teach in detail, to both refresh your own memory and to get yourself familiar with how the book talks about each subject. As you read through the book, make some notes for yourself. You'll teach from those notes.
In your first day of class, spend some time going through the syllabus and your expectations with the class. Make sure they know exactly what to expect, so there aren't any surprises re: grading and so on. Then start your first lecture.
Most students seem to have more fun if you do a combo of lecture and hands-on activity during the class. So talk, but don't talk all class - also have them do some of the work. Perhaps they have to handle the instruments, or they have to discuss a topic, or etc.

I am licensed in multiple content areas for grades 5-12... I started my educational pursuits in elementary ed before switching over. If I would have stayed elementary, the opportunities for me would have been much greater. Yes, many elementary schools LUST for male teachers. I used to go into elementary schools as a sub and they would harrass me and try to get me to switch back to an elementary ed major- they WANT male elementary teachers especially with so many single parent homesCecil Said:

Where do I apply for a Special Education teaching job in Singapore? Are there recruitment agencies? We Answered:
Hi,I'm not very sure if i can answer your question.
Special education teacher is employed by the school itself, meaning to say, you will not be employed by the ministry of education (Primary and Secondary School teachers do). Therefore, you have to contact the special school personally.
Hope that helps. :)

Can you get a special education teaching job in this economy? We Answered:
OH HECK YES!!! Sped is probably the "recession proof" of all the teaching positions and, to top it off, you can basically write your own ticket. I'd put my resume out there right now and start "chumming the water". I can't believe you won't get some bites. Just remember to "leave it at the school". Don't bring home paperwork unless you absolutely have to.
