The Accredited ones are Seminaries or Universities that have Theology that is accredited by ATS.That way you can also teach in these Schools having ATS accreditation. Most of these Institutions are ecumenical in their approach. For example in Toronto School of Theology, roman catholics, anglicans, and united share the same Theological school, but each college is part of the University's theological school. Like St. Michael of the Roman catholic, the Trinity and Wyclifffe of the Anglicans, and Emmanuel College of United and Knox College of the the Presbyterians.

most of the time it has to be from an accredited college or university. but i just saw those degrees online. 100 dollars and get a doctor of philosphy in religion...it doesn't even sound valid. if you read the fine print, only the ulc recognizes the degree. also, most of the time when a teaching job asks for a masters or doctorate, it first has to be in the a subject similar to the one you want to teach. Lastly, they will ask for a course transcript for the school issuing the degree. I am in school right now finishing my Phd and if it was that valid, simple, easy and quick, I would have already sent my money.Nancy Said:

It depends on the kind of English you want to teach and where you want to go. What you seem to be talking about is backpacker English teacher which has several teach abroad websites and jobs can be found on Dave's ESL and Korea Teach and several Teach China websites. Most places prefer an ESL certificate from Cambridge. The pay for a backpacker teacher with just a BA is low, lodging is usually provided but not held to any particular standard, and you usually have opportunities to learn local languages and visit interesting places. If you are lucky, you may find a better position with the Cambridge certificate but without experience it is still likely to be a backpacker position.Most often the pay is enough to live on within the country sometimes a little more, and you can even find places that pay for your flights there and back.
I have been teaching English abroad for several years now, but I hold an MA in Teaching ESL. I do recommend the experience, but make sure to check out the company you are looking to work for as there are disreputable companies and I have even seen people stranded in countries.
And don't hand over your passport to the company (you may need to go through the visa process... but you need to get it back).
