I want to be a primary school teacher?

We Answered:

There are two main ways to get into teaching

1. Take a BEd degree, which is a standard 3 year teaching degree

or

2. Take an non-related degree in any subject and do a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) in 1 year which qualifies you as a teacher.

There are other ways of doing it; this website may help you on your way; www.tda.gov.uk

Theresa Said:

Do you think in scotland gaelic should be taught in all primary schools as it is the mother tongue?

We Answered:

Gaelic is not necessarily the mother tongue of all Scots. Lallans and Doric are two other Scottish languages (or dialects, depending on your point of view). Scots Gaelic (different from Irish Gaelic) was the sole native language of the Highlands and Islands until the 19th century. So yes, Gaelic should be offered as a subject in Scottish schools, but really only used as a medium (i.e. all subjects being taught in Gaelic) where it would have been naturally spoken.
