Does primary teaching include juniors school (UK)?

We Answered:

You could teach from 4-11.

Once qualified, there is nothing actually stopping you from applying for a job in a secondary school. I know one or two people who have switched phases.

Primary School Teaching in the UK?

We Answered:

Hi ya,

To go into teaching you will need to do a degree first. With your diplomas and experience you may be able to negotiate starting in a second year of a degree in something relevant to what you have already. When you have your degree you can then do a PGCE in Primary Teaching - which will take a year and will include teaching practice - or you could do a GTP (Graduate Teacher Programme) which is basically on the job training!

The other option is to go to University and do a four year BEd (Bachelor of Education Degree) which will train you from scratch in all aspects of Primary teaching. It is the most common way into Primary.

Personally because of your experience, I would look into the first option as it may be achievable in a shorter amount of time! Have a look at this website which gives you loads more info:

Best of luck - I am secondary and love it!
