PROFESSORS ONLY: Have you voted to deny someone tenure? Why?We Answered:
At my University tenure is granted on the basis of the overall score obtained on research, teaching and service. Thus if a professor's research is great, but teaching scores are low, the research score can make up for it. I've found that if a professor COULD be granted tenure on the basis of collegiality, he/she would meet the criteria anyway.Calvin Said:
Is a Diploma gained in an Australian TAFE equivalent to any A levels in UK?We Answered:
TEE is the nearest equivalent to the UK A level. As I understand it (from a brief bit of research) TAFE is taken after TEE as a vocational tertiary degree. TAFE might been counted as an HND (higher national diploma) or a Foundation Degree or similar. If you want to study at a university in the UK, your best course is to email the university admissions office and ask what credit might be given for your qualification.

What is the rationale for Rounding Numbers? We Answered:
Rounding helps you make estimates which helps you know what the answer should look like. If you're trying to add 2,349 and 7,980 without even working it out or going to a calculater you should be able to tell the answer will be close to 10,000 (round 2,349 down to 2,000 and 7,980 up to 8,000). So that way if you work it out and somehow get 159,295,492 or 87 you know that you went wrong somewhere. In terms of why rounding is taught at that age group I'm not sure, but I do know that rounding is introduced in Grade 1 or 2 in the Ontario curriculum and students are expected to use rounding to judge how realistic their answers are by the end of Grade 2, which would be 7, and I know that the curriculum was put together through a large team of teachers, principals, experts, parents and students so they must have had some reasons to teach it at that age.Ethel Said:
Suspended from ....community college. HELP!?We Answered:
I think that you should give them a call as others have suggested. However, you may want to familiarize yourself with your school's policies and procedures for academic suspension and reinstatement so you'll feel more comfortable when you speak to them. Just search for "academic probation" on the school's website.Good Luck!! :-)

I'm 23 and would like to be a Primary School Teacher? We Answered:
In recent years and probably even more so now I think you will definately need a PGCE in order to be qualified.Any volunteer teaching you can do whilst you do that would be a good idea too.
Good luck.
