ESL games to teach past tense? We Answered:
A lot is going to depend on how old your students are. Some games are a lot easier to do with older kids than they would be with younger ones. There are a few great (free) websites for ESL and ESL learners, I have put links to them below. Here are a couple of games from them.
Reporter/Re-reporter
This game requires only a ball or beanbag to toss from student to student and is done in whole class or small group. The first person makes a statement in present tense, Each reporter repeats it in past tense attributing it to the speaker(s) when the ball/beanbag is tossed to them.
EX Teacher says: I love bananas. (tosses ball to student)
1st Student (Adam or whatever their name is)- Teacher said he loved bananas. (tosses ball to 2nd student)
2nd Student (Beatriz)- Adam said that teacher told him he loved bananas. (tosses ball to 3rd student)
3rd student: Beatriz said that Adam told her that teacher told him that he loved bananas.
See how far around the circle the group can get before messing up and having to start over with a new sentence.
Past Tense Go Fish- this can be done with a number of ESL decks- there is one listed below. Other great decks can be found at ESL flashcards and Boggles world.
Print 2 copies of the cards for each group.
Go over vocabulary many times till students are familiar with it.
Teach how to play GO FISH
EX- Student one- Do you have the man opened the door?
Student 2 (if he has it) Yes I have the man opened the door. Gives the card to the first student to make a pair.
If the student doesn't have it he can tell the first student to GO FISH.
First person out ends the game- then pairs are counted to find the winner.
There is one more game called Ghosts- listed below. The rules required diagrams, which is why I just put the link.
Hope you enjoy the games!

What would be the best languages to learn for ESL teacher? We Answered:
Depends on where you live. Here in central Iowa, we have a large Bosnian immigrant population so a majority of all our foreign students are Bosnian. I would advise you to make an educated decision based on common ethnic groups in places where you'd like to work.Spanish is a dead give away, I think you should choose it even though you already speak it fluently, the practice is always good. Unless you don't feel like you need the practice, then choose something like German, Chinese, Russian and any other ethnic groups that are commonly in your area.

What is the best English to teach a beginner of ESL for the first time?We Answered:
For beginners who are studying "General English", I usually start with greetings, common phrases, naming things in everyday life and so on. Then move on to topics of interest to them. You need to find out what interests the student. Maybe it's football or music or business protocol or the world of finance or Megan Fox - whatever they are interested in you teach it!
