Will i need a qualification in English to teach English to children in Japan?

We Answered:

You'll need a TEFL or Degree, (any subject) at least although I've heard stories of less educated people picking up work but never actually met any, maybe as they can't work in the same places I can we never met when I was there.

Gregory Said:

Does anyone know of an association where I can spend 2 weeks in european countries to teach children English?

We Answered:

I doubt you'll find one - two weeks is too short for a teacher to get to know a class and make any difference. If anything, that amount of time will just disrupt the normal teaching pattern of the class.

You should aim for going longer.

Catherine Said:

Are there countries that don't teach there children how to speak english?

We Answered:

Most non english speaking countries do not teach their children english. Why should they when english is not the major language of the world? I don't know where you get the idea that they do.

Marilyn Said:

Any websites that teach children proper english?

We Answered:

http://www.effingpot.com/

If your sister lives in the US, it's more appropriate to teach her an American dialect. It's not as though the British speak properly, and no one else does. But if you want a website that teaches grammar, well this is a good start:

http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/

Apart from that, you'd do best to introduce her to media (such as movies) that feature the dialect you're interested in instructing her in.

Bradley Said:

How would you teach English to young children??

We Answered:

make them sit in front of the T.V.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melvin Said:

Anyone know any good websites with activities for teaching children English?

We Answered:

storyplace.org
Has a variety of stories and activities you can do relating to them. Divided into pre-elementary and elementary students with sounds and pictures and an interactive activity online for every story.

starfall.com
Has reading books and activities online where (in some stories) the characters can move around. Browse the site. I use "About me" very often and the kids love the idea of choosing everything about the character.

The British Council website
Has a lot of activities to do and songs that you can teach the students.

This should be a good start but there really is a lot available online.

If you are going to do a theme, make "flashcards" in powerpoint because you can add sound to them for a little variation. The pictures can even be made around a story you are going to tell.
"My boss seems to care more about the money"?!?!?!
