I was wondering if you can find a good paying English teaching job in Colombia? We Answered:
I've considered teaching English in Colombia in my spare time but when I found out how much they pay I was a little less enthusiastic about the idea. I met a British guy who had been teaching english in Bogota for a few months making about 2 million pesos a month. At the current exchange rate that's less than $1000. He worked at an all boys school and I have to think that's one of the better jobs.I have been living in Colombia for nearly a year and there are several english schools around, but the big ones are Wall Street and Berlitz for sure. The Centro Colombo Americano is recognized as a great place though I can't tell you more about it. They will require a certificate, though I'm told you can get it here in Colombia.
I made a list of places in Bogota that I planned to look at but never did. You might look into these and ask directly how much they pay.

How hard is it to import my dog from the United States to Colombia? We Answered:
You need to contact the nearest Colombian Consul/Embassy to obtain the necessary permits. You will need a US Dept. of Agriculture health certificate signed off by your Vet, and the necessary fees to apply for the permits. The Consul will explain the steps necessary. You will also need to contact the airline plenty of time before hand and, or course, pay extra for the dog's passage. If all your papers are in order when you arrive in Colombia, there should be no reason for a quarantine. We brought a Lhasa into Honduras a couple of years ago and the same shot records and health certificates that got her here got her back into the US. You may want to contact the USDA and Customs to make sure that part hasn't changed.Margaret Said:
How to teach in the United States? We Answered:
YOu would first need to prove that you graduated from an education program at the university. Do you have the equivalent to a Bachelor's degree? You will need to submit your papers to the Department of Education of the state you are interested. If you don't have an education background, but do have a degree from the univ. you will be able to obtain a temporary certificate (which is usually valid for about 3 years) during which time you will be fulfilling the requirements (courses in education and pass the state tests). Here in Florida they do need language teachers at the high school level, but they are more in need of teachers of english as a second language (ESL, ESOL teachers), that could be your foot in the door. It's a bit more complicated than what I explained here, but it's very possible. Just make sure you have all employment permits and visas if you are not a US citizen, and all the documents/transcripts from your university available.
