Does volunteering to teach kids another language count as community service?

We Answered:

If you're just looking to put it on an application, then yes, it qualifies, whether you get paid or not. If you do not get paid, then it is considered volunteer work, if you do, then it still qualifies as experience. You should make sure that you have a reference from the temple whom you've worked with, and this would look great on any resume, college application, etc.

However, if you are trying to get credit in some way for doing this, there are different standards for every service. You would need to look into the specific program in that case. For example, I had to do some community service for a college course one semester, and even though I was already involved in volunteering at a local church, it did not count and I had to work with a local food drive for credit instead.

why do they still teach kids math at school?

We Answered:

.Hahaha! We use math in everyday life especially when solving real-world problems so I'm not surprised because they still teach kids math at school. Knowing how to count is something that you can learn without going to school so why do we have to take math classes? I must say I'm disagree with your statement.

How come anything good for kids is deemed bad?

We Answered:

It's because parents seem to think more for their own sanity than for the entertainment-hungry minds of their children. They think Barney is annoying, well anything annoying to adults is sure to be entertaining for kids. Like the Steve or Joe characters on Blue's Clues. They get labeled "creepy" or annoying by the parents, parents decide they don't want their kids watching them because somewhere in their minds they have cooked up some image of them being molesters or creeps, all because they are "acting" to better attract the pre-school audience.

They don't see the characters teaching them how to count or the different shapes or even how to treat other people. They can only see what their adult minds allow them to see. A grown man.. or a big goofy dinosaur acting "creepy". Children see this and as you said, they become rude and arrogant, and instead of teaching the kids to be good level-headed people (as the television programs do) the parents in turn teach them to be judgemental. To make the call before even getting to know a person.
