what is unit plan method in teaching mathematics? We Answered:
A unit of work is a collection of items/topics that fit together. .I.e. fractions, or angles, etcIn a unit you need to detail all the different sub-topics you wish to cover.
I.e. for a unit on fractions, you might want to cover:
what is a fraction, equivalent fractions, addition/subtract, multiplication, division, fraction of a quantity, convert to/from decimal, convert to/from percentage, and maybe more.
Then in your plan you need to come up with a logical order to do the seperate ideas in. And you need to plan how many lessons you will need for each subtopic. This however has to fit into the alocated time you have available. Ideally you would devise multiple units in rough details and divide up the entire year into units and work from that.
The merits of this is that you have a very good idea of what you need to cover and when you should have finished a particular sub-topic.
The disadantage is it takes a lot of time in planning and is usually unflexable once made. I.e. what if you miss a lesson due to sports carnival. It is usually a good idea to insert extra time into a unit so that you can take account of stuff like this and also so you have spare time if you need to repeat stuff because students were absent or didn't get it the first time.

What is the best way of scanning mathematics pages for teaching in computer. Can maths be typed, or scanning isWe Answered:
Scanning is the way to go. One of the very best investments would be in a www.Nuance.com product. You won't regret this one time investment. Then get a good simple scanner. I have a OneTouch 7300 USB flatbed scanner that I use all the time for everything. Don't get those feeder kind. Get one that you can lay a page or a book page on.

Teaching Mathematics?We Answered:
I teach math too. First off, teach it clearly and relate it to the real world when possible. Emphasize that you LOVE when they ask questions to clarify anything and praise that. Teach harder topics in words (steps) as well as with numbers and provide a few types of examples that the students could encounter so they are not thrown off. Be aware that math scares some kids (esp. in MS and HS) and understand where they are coming from (some lack basic skills). They can tell if you love it. You'll be great.Joanne Said:
