Biology class in Private Catholic Schools: do they teach intelligent design or evolution?

We Answered:

*sigh*

ANY school be it private or public must meet the School Board's criteria for classroom content so a religious school cannot teach religion in biology class or they would lose their right to be an educational facility. Private schools can require a religious course but cannot redefine the science content required by the state.

Catholic schools teach Evolution in biology course as 1) as seen above they are required and 2) The Vatican (the head of the Catholic Church) accepts Evolution as fact.

Wade Said:

Do you have to have a substitute teaching permit from the State (CA) in order to sub for Catholic Schools?

We Answered:

No, as a private organization, Catholic schools can hire anyone they want to teach, regardless of whether or not they hold teaching credentials. It is usually helpful to have them, but it sounds like you are already in the process of receiving them, so that ought to be a positive consideration. Definitely look into it, you may be able to find a placement.

Is it really a problem that the Catholic Pope has asked Catholic schools to teach Catholic students?

We Answered:

Not at all.

That is where it makes sense to teach catholocism.

(I think this post is in regards to a previous question about why the pope thinks he can suggest how catholic schools should be run? That question was retarded. Just ignore it.)

Eduardo Said:

It seems like Roman Catholic schools teach evolution. Why don't they buy into evangelical creationism?

We Answered:

Because creationism is just BS. I am a Catholic but I am also a scientist. And I feel that neither science nor religion can fully explain the creation of the universe and thus go together in their attempt to explain it.

Toni Said:

should catholic elementary and high schools teach evolution?

We Answered:

The entire Catholic Church accepts the theory of evolution.

The only people who object to evolution are a vocal minority of fundamentalist Christians, who do NOT represent the view of the majority of Christians worldwide.
