Anyone ever tried to persuade their spouse to move from parochial teaching job to a public one?We Answered:
Tell her that kids in public schools need good role models much more then those in private schools. I'm a young teacher, and actually a lot of older teachers talk about going to the private schools, but it's like a partical retirement- they're doing it for them. If she really wants to cut her teeth, there is no other way but to take the leap. Remind her that millions of people teach public school every day and 80 of america goes to public school- it's not bad or rough, it's just state sponsored- and you get real kids, some who really need you.Ronald Said:
teaching at a Catholic school? We Answered:
Many non Catholics teach in Catholic schools. You would not be a homeroom teacher in a younger grade because you would have to teach Religion. But there is no requirement for the "specials" to be Catholic. If there was an equally qualified Catholic candidate she would probably be hired over you, but you should be hired over less qualified Catholic candidates. You would have to agree to show respect for Catholic teaching and practices. As a music teacher you also could be required to participate in worship if you are responsible for the choir.

Teaching jobs in Vancouver,British Columbia? We Answered:
Firstly, there is no BC Catholic School Board but there are Catholic schools in BC but they are usually regulated by the local parish. Teaching positions for new teachers in the Greater Vancouver area are hard to come by but there is always a chance. I would suggest sending out your resume no later than the springtime, March, and do your follow-ups so they know you are Truly in the market.I too have a teaching degree and in my first year ended up teaching in an Aboriginal school off northern Vancouver Island. That was not a good experience.

Teaching English Lit in Catholic High SchoolWe Answered:
Getting a master's degree could prove invaluable later on in life, when perhaps you want to climb the job ladder. I went to an established Catholic school for most of my educational career and many of the teachers were quite young, some coming straight from university. Established schools are sometimes reluctant to higher younger teachers, but I think age is becoming increasingly irrelevant. Living in Southern California, learning Spanish would be a crucial tool during your teaching years (if you aren't fluent already that is). Your starter job should be and probably will be a teaching position at the school of your choice. There is some type of training of several months that you must go through (you probably know more about this than I do), but typically, you're first job should be at the Catholic High School that you want to teach at.A double major in English and Theological Studies is quite impressive, I wouldn't worry so much. You are a prime candidate for any Catholic High School, especially if you earn a master's degree, which would help you later on if you decide to move up the job ladder or even change professions somewhat. Best of luck.

What do catholic school teachers wear to work?We Answered:
Some schools do require unifroms and some don't, as you said, it depends on the school. If you don't get to wear a uniform I suggest you go always start with black clothes and combine them with colors like grey / white or any other neutral color, nothing to flashy. If you feel like adding color always wear it under a black sweter so that the collar of the shirt, blouse is the one thing in color showing Always be conservative and formal, long skirts, pants, low heels,up to the neck shirts/blouse, small earing, natural make-up (some base and a pale shade of lipstick OR gloss that kind of stuff and you'll be safe.
