I want to move to Co and find a job teaching dance. Any ideas?

We Answered:

If you want to open your own studio I'd strongly recommend you get your RAD exams, teaching diploma, A.D.A.P.T., and whatever else is required in your state. If you don't have that you'll be hardpressed to find an insurance company that would give you a business license.
I'd also strongly suggest you get one of the following:
A degree in business with a minor in dance
A degree in dance with a minor in business management
You can go to your old studio and ask if you can teach as an alumni, but most other studios will require that you have your teaching certifications before they hire you.

Yvonne Said:

What kind of work experience do I include in an application to be a teacher?

We Answered:

I can't see how they would hinder you. Both jobs would show that you have skills in management, which you definitely need to work with students. Also they show that you have a variety of skills you can use when stepping into a classroom, can work with different people, and you have good work ethics.

The only reason I can't see you putting those on your application would be in a case where you think the person you use as a reference might not speak highly of you.

Ryan Said:

How much should a dance teacher make?

We Answered:

I think it sort of depends on where you live. My daughter was getting $10.00 per hour when she first started teaching. Mainly because she only had three classes per week.
