What are the benefits of obtaining a National Board Certification for teaching? We Answered:
This is a very difficult process. Not only is it time consuming but it's also mentally exhausting. You have to typically complete it while teaching. Some school districts do offer some form of scholarship. I know that about 1/4 of people who go through the entire process each year end up not getting the certification and no there is isn't a refund.I do have to say that getting this does help craft you into a better teacher. You really have to delve deeply into your teaching practices and use supporting evidence to back up your talk! You get I think 2400.00 dollars extra per year if not more. However your certificate does need to be rewnewed and it is yet another arduous process to go through again. Fortunately you will be celebrated. The national board certificatied teacher is RARE! You will probably have a super easy time getting job outside the state or actually within the state if you switch schools.

how can i get a special ed certification in nj?We Answered:
NJ Department of Education is the place to start. http://www.nj.gov/education/The only time you can work in special education while going to college is under emergency certification which has to be requested by the district that hired you. Right now the only district that can do this would be ABBOTT School Districts however the gov has just placed a hiring freeze.
If you enter the college program once you graduate you send information to the state and you will be dual certified.

Could I teach in an elementary school with a BA in Sociology and Teacher certification? We Answered:
Only way to know for sure is to check with your state's department of education or state board of education. My state (Ohio), for example, issues different licenses for elementary, middle childhood, and young adolescent. You need one of the first two to teach in elementary.

How to get a Spanish Teaching Certification? We Answered:
The same way you get any teaching certificate. You need a four year education degree, in your case, a minor or second major in Spanish....yes, second major is best.
Teacher certificate from the state you wish to teach in, as each state is different for their requirements.
Minimum is 4 years, probably closer to five unless you can work on the certification in your senior year. Cost for a degree varies also.
