Are there many good elementary teaching jobs in Minneapolis? We Answered:
The whole state is one of the more challenging ones to find a job in. The inner cities are the easiest places to find a job, but if you do get one there, it will probably be in a not-so-nice area. If you can, you might try to think about going job-hunting in the South - it's much easier to find a good one in most states there.Erik Said:
Elementary teaching jobs in or around Lubbock or Amarillo? We Answered:
Well, since I am not from your area, I cannot comment on the specific towns.A few suggestions, though....
If you haven't already, try the on-line job sites specifically for teachers. http://www.teachers.net has a lot of listings.... so do several others.
Is moving an option for you? Even if it's not far, to one of the more rapidly growing cities in your state- like Dallas or Houston. There are sure to be jobs in these cities.
You mentioned that you've been certified for 5 years, but still do not have a the full-time elementary job you've been after. During this time, keep building your resume-- even if it means subbing regularly or working as a teachers' aide.
There's a good book about getting teaching jobs that may be helpful to you. It's "Guide to Getting a Teaching job." It's at: http://www.iwantateachingjob.com
Good luck to you.... I hope you find an elementary job.

This website should do it.Marion Said:
jobs for psychology degree and elementary teaching credential? We Answered:
Yes, consider middle school jobs as well. You may be able to add that certification pretty easily. In the state I live in, once you have certification in one area, you simply have to take the certification test, pass it, then pay to add another area to your certification. No extra classes except for learning what you need to pass the test, which you probably already know. I don't know about the laws in California, but it's worth a phone call, right?Another option - social work type of jobs. I also have a bachelor's in psychology, and that qualified me to work as a caseworker for Children's Protective Services. I could have also qualified to work in Child Care Licensing. You could also look into HUD, FEMA, WIC, and your state agency that does things like Food Stamps, TANF, and Medicaid.
Good luck.

Will future elementary teaching jobs be hard to find?We Answered:
No. According the latest statistics, you'll find plenty of opportunities nationwide; keep in mind that in your specific area jobs may be tight. The reason you'll find elementary teaching positions is basically twofold: most college graduates opt for more money in other fields and most college graduates do not want to work with children.
