What is the best way to be called for an interview for an elementary school teaching position? We Answered:
Send out your resume and a cover letter to every school at which you would consider teaching. After a week has gone by (to give your letter time to reach the school), call the administrative office once a week to check on whether that school will be hiring, and what positions are available. If school starts in all the districts you're considering, and you still don't have a job, call the administrative office to find out how to sign up to be a substitute. That is often the best way to have your foot in the door in a school, and the best way that the students, parents, and other teachers will know that you are serious about your teaching career.
Expect your interview to be conducted by a team, which could include any or all of the principal, some teachers, some parents, and even some students. Be prepared with examples of lesson plans you have created (for college or for your student teaching), and with examples of student work from your student teaching. Be enthusiastic and energetic; use correct grammar and when you speak, be sure to make eye contact with everyone in your audience. Smile and act like you're not nervous. :)
Good luck! Teaching is a rewarding and challenging career and you'll enjoy it if you throw yourself into it.

POLL: are elementary school teaching positions hard to find?We Answered:
I've been teaching 9 years and every year we get new teachers for mostly these reasons:1. The old teacher moved away.
2. The old teacher got pregnant.
3. The old teacher retired.
4. The old teacher quit teaching or decided to teach elsewhere.
If you want it, they are out there.

Network, make contacts, apply in person, agree to do extras such as coach etc. Apply for substitute teaching also. If all else fails, volunteer with a system until they get to know you.
