Interview for teacher training. Help about a starter for Year 8 French, please !!!?We Answered:
I would interpret a "starter" as being an introduction to this topic. The youtube video idea is a good one but it would have to be quick. A Powerpoint presentation might be better. For the news show, you could say:"Voiçi les informations. Le journaliste raconte ce qui c'est passé aujourd'hui..." and so on...Charlie Said:

The "starter" part of a lesson is where you introduce your students to the main idea of the lesson and also where you trigger their previous knowledge about the lesson topic. So, I am not sure about the language level of the students, but you could even do something as simple as introducing the types of television shows (which are fairly easy for English-speakers to recognize because of the cognates - words that look the same in English as in French) and have the students then name (in groups, individuals, as a class...) their favourite examples of these shows (even if these are English shows.) Whatever starter you come up with, remember that selection committee doesn't want a full lesson so you shouldn't be trying to cover all the lesson or worry about assessment... any of these sorts of things. The starter should be fun, grab the students' attention, interactive, and trigger the students previous knowledge of the lesson topic. Good luck.
