What are some good activities or ideas of teaching method with picture book in kindergarten ?

We Answered:

what about number-object correspondence? you can read Chicka Chicka 1,2,3..for your motivation you can do a clapping song like this one (which I made up but kids love) 1,2 (clap x2) 3,4 (clap x2) 5,6 (clap x2) 7,8 (clap x2) 9, 10 (clap x2)

Then, you will introduce the book and read the story, and if can, get cutouts of the numbers and while you are reading place numbers 1-10 on chart paper.

After you finish reading the story, you cna have students say the numbers, and show you the corresponding finger amounts, as you point to each number.

Any game ideas for kindergarten that teaches colors?

We Answered:

Color Search: Look for a certain color of objects in a room.

Fishing: Have your child fish for a certain color of paper fish, using paper clips on the fish and a pole with a magnet on the end.

Color Toss: Have your child toss a bean bag at color squares and try to land on a color that you call out to them.

Or color bingo like one person said.

any activities/ideas to teach history, or geography to kindergarten homeschool girl?

We Answered:

I recommend taking a look at K12's History K. It teaches the basics of geography, and the first semester is a trip around all the continents. The second semester is a chronological study of the US from Native Americans to the Civil Rights movement. Along the way are tons of great activities: building a sand dike (Netherlands), salt dough maps, making a Taj Mahal out of spices, making a sugar cube pyramid, and making a "passport" with stamps you receive after learning, and cyber-visiting, the countries. There are music activities also. It's just an incredible course. Here's a link to the scope & sequence:

When we did the course, we also either dined at an ethnic restuarant we studied, or we'd make their traditional foods at home. K12's art also correlates with history, so we'd do those projects also.
