This is pure bullshit considering that you pay for the class and she has done a horrible job with the subject matter.Your university should have a Campus Ombudsman to assist with this. The Dean is too close to the problem to be objective. Document it all with dates, chapters, etc. and get another student or two to corroborate the story, and go to the Ombudsman. They may have another name for it but it is essentially a student advocate. This individual should have a better idea of the process, and be able to assist.

You do not need a degree to tutor. (Some private tutoring places only hire people with a teaching degree, but for private tutoring you do not need this.) Here are some ways to start:Ask your parents if you can put a tutoring ad on Craigslist. If you do, please have someone go with you when you meet the students for the first time since Craigslist can be kind of sketchy. I have found tutoring jobs on Craigslist and have had no problems, but since you are a student, I wouldn't want to advise this without some precautions!
You could put an ad in your local newspaper or on bulletin boards at local grocery stores. You could also ask local elementary schools if you could put something up on any bulletin boards that they have, or local daycares. While you are not trying to tutor students this young, they may have older brothers or sisters that are in need of tutors.
Check with any tutoring places in your area to see if they are hiring. Many will hire high school students to tutor.

your story is like awesome. i'm only a freshman in college, but i went to a 4 year college last semester and this semester i'm staying home and going to community college...at any college, especially a community one you can take math, science, and any other subject class at really any level you want. if you don't think your math skills are up to "college level" you can take a 'college algebra' class for example.
and if you go through with 2 years at community, when you apply for a 4 year or even if you apply at a 4 year earlier, you're probably going to have write an essay and in that essay if you describe what you just described to us, they will definitly see your dedication and they will know that you are a worthy spot at their college.
but definitly talk to an admissions representative or someone at a local highschool about maybe guiding you though the process.. and good luck!!!

Do you plan to learn independently or to follow a university? In second case, every university/college has its list of math classes, so you study what is is given to youAbstract Algebra
Modern Algebra
Group Theory
Set Theory
Number Theory
basically these are branches of algebra
I would say the major domains are Algebra, Geometry, Analysis (there are others too )
Any of these branches off in other subjects which also, on the other hand, ramify into other subjects and intersect others.
Differential Geometry will use lots of analysis and geometry, Algebraic Geometry will use algebra in addition to analysis and geometry.
Anyhow, for a general approach, I would recommend Functional analysis, Measure theory, Differential geometry( 2 courses),
Algebraic topology or Analysis on manifolds , Probability theory
Other useful applied courses: Numerical analysis, Statistics,
Computional algebra, Cryptography, any Math Physics class,
Graph theory.

I would look at teaching a lesson on place value. It is a crucial set of understanding for students learning math, and lends itself to manipulatives. For place value I usually use popsicle sticks (singles and banded groups of ten), counters (singles, and ten in a film canister), place value houses, and numbers from 0-9 on a ring that I have the kids use like a car odometer - rolling over when they reach 0. There are some cool games you can play with place value as well. Have a look on line, as well.
