How To Leave Teaching?

We Answered:

like u said, wait til the economy gets better first! but in the same time, u can try to find a new job as your career! and im agreed with u! im just a kindergarten teacher and it is suppose to be a happy job for me as i love children a lot but it is very pressure especially there is a lot of paperworks, complaning parents, naughty children, stingy boss etc.
i want to change but i felt lazy of it as i already tried a lot of places and none of them are suitable for me!

for u, why dont u try to do in daycare centreor kindergarten? although it is far away from qualification but it is a job thats works with children!

What GOOD-PAYING jobs are available to someone who has 2 years teaching experience and a BA in communications?

We Answered:

Look into corporate training positions, either directly for a company or as part of a group that comes in and does training.

Angela Said:

Are there agencies that place people with mental disabilities into jobs that actually accommodate them?

We Answered:

Since you clearly have good quality skills, use them on a consultancy basis. Do most of your work from home or make it clear in your contracts that you work on a contingency basis - yours and their's. Give them a no-fault contract if they want to delay work and/or you need a mental health day off - it's ok.

How Did You Leave the Teaching Field?

We Answered:

I kind of went in reverse from you. I worked for a few years in a university financial aid office, and now I am a middle-school social studies teacher.

Academic administration ain't a bed of roses, either. The pay is not great, the demands are high - especially if you work in admissions, you will find your free weekends in short supply, too - and, in this economic climate, colleges and universities are tightening their belts BIG TIME. However, you do have the opportunity to work with and serve students, though the opportunities for intellectual discourse are diminished.

I think you're wise in waiting out the economic storm. From the sounds of it, academic advising might be a field that would suit you - but I'm guessing that those are just the type of jobs that are being cut. Good luck!
