Am a psychology major, but don't know what to minor in?We Answered:
I am a retired psychology professor who had much the same dilemma in college as you do. I solved the problem by minoring in two of the fields (yes, I had 2 minors) which I enjoyed the most....music and philosophy. I have never been asked what my minor was, and in many universities now, minors are not required. In addition to my minors, I took extra courses in sociology, education, history, and science. You are right about going on to graduate school and aiming for a doctorate. But you are wrong (mostly) about needing only a Master's to teach at the undergraduate level. Most colleges, universities and even junior colleges prefer a teacher with a doctorate, and in most cases are able to hire someone with those credentials.
I would urge you to look further into the many areas of law you could specialize in after law school. One of the most interesting to me is Forensic Psychology. This field studies all the varied ways that psychology and the legal profession can complement each other. I developed and taught a very successful undergrad course in Forensic Psychology, and have seen many of my students enter into the general field. Go to APA.org and type in Forensic Psychology and see the many areas covered there.
I hope some of this helps you in your decision making. Don't worry too much about specific areas of study now; rather, give yourself excellent skills in learning the material over a wide variety of courses. Even in your Master's degree, you will still be taking upper level variations of many of the same courses you are now taking. Good luck in your future!

What can I do with a Master's degree in psychology? We Answered:
You'd certainly be eligible for management in a human services field. You might have to start as a psychologist, but could move up. In NY, you are eligible for a "team leader" position grade 25 with a masters in psych. Starting pay is in the mid to upper 60s.Ricky Said:
If I signed up for a class with a professor that never ended up teaching me, can I get a partial refund? We Answered:
I think perhaps you should go to the law department of the college, if they have one and ask. If not, you should definitely write a formal complaint to the dean of the school citing everything you wrote here. If you pay for an education, you definitely deserve one. Also, if you have an academic advisor speak with them about it. If all else fails trying to work out what you want at the school, you may need to contact a lawyer. You were lied to, were not provided with a textbook, and received a poor lecture delivery to a language barrier. You might also be able to contact the professor next semester and ask if you can retake the class WITH HIM without charge. I'm sure he will be honored that you look up to him so much, but it may not be his decision to make if you can retake it under those circumstances. So, try to talk with or contact the law department, the dean, the academic advisor, and the professor. As a last resort, speak with a lawyer.Roberto Said:
I need help finding resources for a psychology paper?!?We Answered:
I think you should check out Google Scholar. They might have some journals on that topic. Also, if you're in university or college, your library will have access to many more resources, such as the Ulrichsweb.com database. Best thing I can suggest though, if you cannot access anything of that sort or cannot find anything on the web on your own, go to your nearest public library. The librarians are usually excellent at helping people with these questions.Good luck!

Do you think human resources people are being taught to abuse psychology more and more to protect the company? We Answered:
It's not all HR offices but I completely believe it happens. HR is in a weird position. They need to make sure the company isn't breaking any laws to protect employees and also need to make sure employees are breaking any laws to protect the company.Unfortunately the fear either way could cause people to act unethically. As far as discrediting, I hope those HR offices are very careful because they could lead to slander/libel suits if what they are saying is not true.
