Relief teaching for teacher assistant?

We Answered:

It can be, but typically, Teacher's assistants don't always have the credentials to teach. There is normally a pool of "substitute teachers" who do have the credentials, just not the full time teaching position. If you are trying to "force" a teachers assistant to sub in the absence of the teacher, I would tread lightly. Check their credentials first.

Casual Relief Teaching Melbourne?

We Answered:

A primary school teacher who is prepared to go to any school will have an excellent chance of finding a casual relief teaching position. The best approach is to put your name down for as many schools as you can in your area in Melbourne. If you are readily available and do a good job, 3 days of work a week (or more) would be a reasonable expectation. This is true for both government and private schools. Naturally, you have to be eligible to apply for an Australian teaching position which means having current Victorian Institute of Teachers (VIT) Registration including the correct visa, qualifications and police checks. Send an email to the Department of Education in Victoria (website below) to find out the requirements. Good Luck!
