These are all great questions which can best be answered by an advisor at the college which you are attending. I know that is not what you are looking for, but it is the most logical. They will know exactly what to tell you. Also you might be able to go to a school which you are interested in teaching at and talk with the principal and other teachers in that area to see if they can give you any insight on what to expect. Also if you have time in your schedule you can volunteer as a teachers aide or some schools pay for aides too, but this will let you see what it is like.Good Luck.

The teachers must be educated to the cultural differences. A child who is in a culture that is quiet will have to be encouraged more etc.I am a firm believer, that when in Rome.....
That means that the only way for children to assimilate into our culture is to be exposed to it and participate in it.
Of course, we can also teach about other cultures, so that children have knowledge of and understand their classmates better. This would also encourage cultural pride, by letting each child know that their culture is important enough to teach about in a country where every culture is present.

Good question. As an elementary school teacher I had everything from Autism to Gifted and all the other alphabet soups (ADD,ADHD, SLD, SLI, ELL. ESL) in my class. I know for me it was a challenge, in a positive way. I am competitive by nature and I saw this as an opportunity to test myself as to my ability/success as a teacher. I can truly say it kept me on my toes, I spent hours on lesson plans. compiling worksheets, grading papers and tests, but it was all worth it to me as all my kids (yes, even my special needs kids) passed our state standardized tests at Meets or Exceeds!I had a 20-40% increase in individual scores alone. I did not do all this myself. Most of my time was getting parents involved into their children's lives and education.It's hard and long work but worth it to me to see the success in my students. I had a Principal who used to say two things all the time. "if you go home tired, you're working too hard, which means your students are not". "We are here not to rehabilitate but to educate." I never really listened to him much anyway. I did whatever it took to be the best teacher I could be. It helped develop my own character formation.
But then again, I love my job!

Unless they gave you constructive criticism about what needs to be changed or fixed, I wouldn't put much credence behind what they say. You may have given that person or persons a lower grade and they just thought you were being mean or hard on them for it, or maybe they just thought you weren't being as fair as they expected you to be.Either way, maybe this is a good thing for you to tell your students the next time you give out a teacher evaluation..."When you fill out these evaluations, please don't just tell me I'm an ash-hole (be funny and tell them, "I already know I'm a dick")...but tell me why I am, and what should be done to fix the problem. Being constructive helps me become a better teacher. You're really teaching me what I need to do to be better at what I do."

decide what we want to teach
where we teach
how we teach
how we are evaluated
who we get to teach
all of those things are the responsibility of someone else. heck you dont even get your own classroom - if admin comes in and says you have to move - you move.
we teachers like to think we are in complete control - but really we are not. You are hired to teach with what you are given.
now as to your whine: you got certified. spine up and learn more about your chosen profession. That mentor chose to evaluate you negatively - deal with it and move on.
No lawyer will ever come close to touching your case.. what are your damages?! you are currently working teacher....
