Is happiness easier to acquire with greater intelligence or higher education?

We Answered:

Intelligence - what's the point of education if you can't process what you're being taught.

That being said, I don't think happiness truly relies on either. Many mentally challenged people are just peachy, maybe because they don't know better. I just think, out of those two, intelligence - it brings more wisdom than just education and allows you to think(which could go either way on the happiness scale, depending), not just spit back information.

Do those wanting to be professors take education or methods courses?

We Answered:

It depends on if you want to be a professor of Education or in another discipline. Typically professors of other disciplines do not take teaching methodology courses and concentrate on their own field of study. Its a shame really, because there are lots of intelligent people out there who know lots of interesting things but are very poor at communicating it.

There may be courses available but what percentage of people actually take them? Also what percentage of existing professors have teching training? That would be an interesting number.

In my experience most grad students do TA work where they lead tutorials and small classes but this is often done off the cuff or just following a basic procedure instead of having specific professional teacher training.
