Is there anyway to teach Elementary Education with a Degree in Business Education? We Answered:
It depends upon what state you live in. If you live in California, it would be hard to get a job even if you had a teaching credential due to the teacher lay offs. In California you need a 5th year in which you will do your student teaching. You can also get an emergency teaching credential while you take the necessary classes to get a clear teaching credential. But while you are working with a emergency credential, you build no seniority. Any lay offs, you will always be the first to go.Nina Said:

what would be a good thesis statement for teaching elementary education for special education kids?We Answered:
You are going to have to narrow that down a lot. What point will you be trying to make? That's what your thesis statement will be. Are you saying you need to use different techniques with special ed. kids? Are you saying mainstreaming is a good thing? A bad thing? Etc.Right now, your topic is way too broad.

What are some good things about teaching Elementary Education? We Answered:
I'm a teacher and the subjects may be "easier," but helping a 9 year old understand isn't necessarily. You need a lot of depth and creativity to help a room full of children to really understand something. My spouse, an electrical engineer, found this out. With a Bachelor's in Math and a Masters in Engineering, there was a lot of surprise about how to get a child to understand electricity. Most people have no clue where to really start. Especially when kids are just beginning to more from the concrete to the abstract.OK - so the greatest part is the kids! I like them old enough to have a sense of humor, and young enough to still appreciate good lesson plans. All the other parts are the things you put up with, while wishing for more time to plan and teach to your students.

how do you survive your first day of teaching elementary education? We Answered:
There are books that tell you exactly what to do. If possible, help out at a school during the summer. There will be a first day.The most important things to remember: Keep the mind-set that all children want to do what you ask. It will take role playing for them to learn your way of doing things. When they forget, do a "I guess we need a review," and thoroughly role play and explain.
NEVER talk over children. Talk softly. Keep a warm beverage to sip on. Explain to the children that since you talk a lot, you need to. Also, ask yourself if you are talking too much.
For fun, watch the video MATILDA, and pay attention to how Miss Honey treats the children. It might help you relax to watch it the "night before."
