I want to volunteer to teach english in Africa but all I can find is this...?We Answered:
Some organisations are perfectly respectable and worthy - for example the VSO or Peace Corps. Others are a complete rip off and potentially dangerous. If you do a search online you'll find examples of horror stories from some organisations which quite simply did not have the procedures and infrastructure in place when there was a problem. You should not pay to go overseas, certainly not hundreds of pounds which in a lot of cases quite simply does not go into the hands of those who need it but simply lines the pocket of the "volunteer" organsation.
