Typically, professional tutors make around $20-$25 an hour. I would use that as your basis for charging clients and change that according to your needs.Colleen Said:

How much can a qualified native English teacher make teaching private english lessons in Shanghai? We Answered:
Chinese people get maybe rmb20-50 per hour. I think rmb100 seems already pretty high, that's when you get lucky.Private teaching is to barely survive, not to make money.
I don't think you will be able to cover your living expenses.

What is the going rate for private English lessons in China? We Answered:
The going rate in Zhongshan is 75 to 100 an hour. It is not illegal. But, if you work for a school, all the contracts say that you will not do this!Everyone here still does it from time to time. Especially teachers trying to pay their student loans. I am too old to still have student loans, so I teach private lessons solely on the basis if I enjoy the class and student. It could be a really smart student or a really pretty one, both are enjoyable.
