Conversational English teaching tips, anyone? We Answered:
I def agree with with Will about the soft music in the background. It makes them less self conscious and encourages them to speak up.Because you are teaching conversation, initially you want to build their confidence so avoid correcting them at every turn. I would advise even not correcting at all during the first class or discreetly make notes while they are engaged in conversation and then later correct them without actually pointing out who made the mistakes. And try to get them to notice the mistake rather thatn just correcting it yourself.
Topics should be interesting. things that they can relate to. maybe spend some time finding out about their interests. For example their favourite movies or tv shows and then create a conversation around that. I advise against 'simulated' situations like. 'Imagine you have met this person for the first time, what do you say?" Always give them a 'real' reason to communicate. You could do information gap activities.
Get them interested in you. Students are always interested in their teacher and are very curious. They will then, more comfortably engage in conversation with you as well.
Use video clips and try the 'sound off, video on' technique. Students watch the video clip and make up their own dialogue. It's really a lot of fun and it teaches the appropriacy of language in particular situations.Youtube is a great resource.
Finally google EFL ( English as a foreign language) websites. you'll get lots of resources and ideas for teaching conversation.

tips or suggestions for teaching english? We Answered:
Beginners are easy. Teach them basic introductions. Use plenty of gestures and get them talking as soon as you can. The link here is for a first lesson which should help a lot.http://tinyurl.com/ylnq9f2
You'll see the idea is teaching them practical, useful words and phrases to begin with. Obviously as the class progresses you move on to more complex stuff, but in the beginning keep it simple. Don't try to teach them too much.
It's all about Presenting the new language item the Practicing the new language item. Don't hurry them, let them practice again and again.

Tips teaching English to a Korean student good at grammar and vocab, but poor at understanding spoken english? We Answered:
One of the skills that most teachers leave behind is the intellegence to understand that enunciation, and give them time to assimilate the info, is as important as the tech skills in perfection the language. Also do not forget that Korean is alanguage that came originaly from China, and there are still many words, and written characters that are still fundamentally Chinese. The thinking is totally different.
Basic - Have a little faith in the student, and a lot of patience.

What are some tips in teaching english to a non-native person? We Answered:
From the way my teacher taught me to speak German language. A strategic way is to just speak English with her. If she doesn't understand, use gestures to explain. Example if she doesn't know what a cup is, show her a cup and say it. DO NOT TRANSLATE FOR HER AT ALL. She must learn words everyday. the grammar part comes later when she can understand simple English... =)Lance Said:

i use to teach korean students for a year. i tried different techniques, much to say they get easily bored when they have the same way of learning everyday. be more creative like integrating topics to their likes or hobbies.. don't be so strict let them enjoy learning.. appreciate what they do and achieve.. see some free book at getmybooks.blogspot.com , it might help.
