how do i get a job teaching english to asylum seekers in the uk?We Answered:
Hi!The kind of job you are talking about is called teaching ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) rather than EFL, i.e. working with international students.
Bad news is, to teach ESOL you will have to top up your qualification. As it's a government funded programme, you'll need a Level 4 Stage 3 qualification (CELTA is considered to be Level 4 Stage 2). The most popular course to do it is run by Cambridge - if you go to their website www.cambridgeesol.org you'll be able to find all the details.
I hope this doesn't put you off, as this is a truly rewarding career!
From my experience, the best way into ESOL is through doing sessional (i.e. hourly paid) teaching at an FE college. Good websites to look for this kind of opportunity are www.talent.ac.uk and www.fejobs.com. Good luck!

How do I go about teaching English as a foreign language in the UK?We Answered:
Try some of the languages schools in London.Kay Said:
Does teaching English as a foreign language count towards 'classroom hours' in the UK?We Answered:
Different courses have different requirements but teaching or experience of standing up in front of a group of people will help your CV. As there is a shortage in physics teachers you are bound to get accepted.A lot of foreign schools require two years experience in a UK school before you can join them. Teaching abroad would not count towards NQT status as they would not be UK state schools. The only exception might be UK military schools.

Foreigner to teach English in UK ? Risk of the copied passport ?We Answered:
I think that a foreigner might be better able to teach English than the average English person who doesn't have the right qualifications.Think about it - having been through the mill as language learners, they know how to break down the material so that it's manageable for a learner. Native speakers of English often find this very hard unless they themselves have been in a situation where they had to learn another language.
Don't provide the copy of the passport unless you write COPY in big red letters across the copy, and I would wait and give it to them in person. It's very common for employers in the EU to make a copy of your passport for security purposes, because they can't hold onto the original. And I think that if your friend doubts the veracity of the website and the family in question, he should have some kind of a police check done on them.
