Is this an odd thing for someone like me to do?

We Answered:

I am one of the most over-educated, under-employed people you are likely to meet in your lifetime. I collect college degrees like some people collect dust bunnies. Yet I play with food for a living. I went to culinary school to get better quality cooking jobs (yes, I'm a chef), but since the restaurant closed due to the economy I'm having trouble finding a new one. BUT! - The local biker/metal head bar has a grill area and serves pub food. I'm actually thinking about applying there as I know their cook is leaving soon.

So - no, I do not think it is odd. I think it's awesome that you could find work to help out your family and that you don't consider any work beneath you. I'd take pretty much any job right now myself! Since you also think it's kind of fun, who cares what other people think? Enjoy yourself and be grateful for the extra $500 a month. That's nothing to sneeze at in these times - as I'm sure you well know.
