How long does it take to get a degree to teach? We Answered:
Normally it takes 4 years to get a B.S. degree to teach public school. If you can transfer some of your credits from the college you attended it may not take as long. Also, check to see if RI has teacher certification courses you can take. The courses generally don't run longer than a year so that may help, too.Russell Said:

What should my college major be if I want to teach high school business classes? We Answered:
Well, I'm glad to help, I'm a teacher myself and will try to answer the best I can.1) The college major that would help you with your teaching career would be a bachelor's degree in Business.
2) Do NOT double major for the sake of education, it will be TOO much for you.
- You can become a teacher as long as you have a bachelor's degree in your major and a credential. With you, your credential would be in secondary education to teach at the high school level.
3) Since you live in a state other than CA, you may want to get a liberal studies major to teach other grades besides high school and know what to expect with teaching. Liberal studies can be used for secondary school as well.
4) Sadly, I do not know any schools in those states, I am a teacher in California.
5) Your salery is based on the school district that you are with. I am with the 2nd highest paid district in the United States, Los Angeles Unified. For a beginning teacher, the pay can be over $46,000. It is also based on your units that you received in college. But the guarentee is $40,000 plus here in Los Angeles.
Hope this helps, my suggestion if you were living here in CA would be to get an AA degree at a 2 year college and then transfer to a university to get a degree in business and then a credential in secondary education. Best wishes. =>

How do I become a studio teacher in the entertainment industry? We Answered:
I would suggest going over the SAG site and checking out their requirements. In order to become a studio teacher/tutor you would have to be hired by a production company or studio, or by an individual actor/model/singer/whatever. However, SAG has pretty specific rules in any state that has a large entertainment industry (NY, CA, etc.)Dean Said:

Job Openings Website--- A couple of years ago I used a website with tons of job listings on it. Unfortunately it was a subscription site, but it wasn't too expensive and it was well worth the money. To find the site, go to http://www.teachinginterview.com ....scroll down and look for the "Education Jobs" link.
Good luck with your job search... it's a tough job market in Rhode Island (as you know). Still, it IS possible to find a good job if you're persistent. :)
