becoming a teacher in Oregon? We Answered:
I nearly completed licensure in Oregon before I moved to Montana to teach; it's one of the more difficult states to get licensed in, but I don't know about California licensure, so it may bot be too difficult. You will definitely need to have coursework in education. A lot depends on whether you plan to do elementary or secondary and, if secondary, what subject you plan to teach. You can start here: http://www.tspc.state.or.us/new/core/lic… , but without knowing exactly what you want to teach, it's difficult to give you more specifics. You would be going for the Initial Teaching License. When I left Oregon four years ago, the teaching market wasn't great, especially in the Portland metropolitan area, but I'm not sure about how it's going now. I can recommend Beaverton School District, though.Jaime Said:

Why can't I find a Math Teaching Job In Spokane, WA?We Answered:
Spend less time chasing after the jobs you see advertised in the paper and online. These are usually the job openings with the most competition.Instead, try a more simple-- but also more effective-- approach for finding job openings. Go to the phone book. Call all of the schools you're willing to work at and ask if theyre hiring.
Most job openings are unadvertised (or advertised very little). If you can find these jobs, there will be a lot less competition.
Also, after you've formally applied for a job through the human resources office.... send a copy of your resume and a letter of interest to the principal of the school you want to work at. Principals usually have direct control over who is hired-- not HR offices. If a principal likes your resume he/she can easily set up an interview. If you wait for HR to forward your resume to principals...you may be waiting forever.
Here's a good ebook on finding teaching jobs that may be able to help you. It has advice on applying for jobs, interview tips, and common teacher interview questions and answers. Maybe the book can help you. It's at: http://www.iwantateachingjob.com
Best of luck to you!
