The Left Exaggerated AIDS (Global Warming, Anybody?)?We Answered:
The reason the aids epidemic was pretty much halted here eventually is because of steps in handling blood, warning people to use protection, providing clean needles to the druggies, etc. Just the other day it was reported that 4 people contracted aids from an organ donor. Still, many people have died in just this country from aids. It did spread to the heterosexual community. Africa is loosing millions of people to aids. That was definitely not overblown. Thank God somebody warned people so they took the steps that were necessary to prevent what would have happened otherwise. Many of the lakes in this country and others are drying up. Many of the forests have burned and Greenland is turning green again. Something is going on and somebody better make some plans to deal with it. We could face food shortages from the drought and flooding conditions. Atlanta has a huge water shortage. Making these issues political is a big mistake. Calling it to the attention of the think tanks to deal with it is NOT a mistake. You go ahead and worry about liberals all you want for showing some social responsibility.

Where in Africa do you want to go? There are a lot of volunteer organizations that will help you get there (and charge you a lot of money in the meantime), but might not offer the experience you're looking for. I have an American contact in Tanzania, on the coast about an hour north of Dar es Salaam, who might be able to help you. She set up a small Montessori classroom for local children and the children in her orphanage. Please email me privately if you would like more information.George Said:
africa missions this summer?We Answered:
It depends on how short-term you mean and what kind of price you'd be willing to pay. Some organizations offer scholarships, while others do not. Also, it depends on which part of Africa you'd be looking to volunteer in. There are a lot of programs in South Africa it seems, while there are very few in East Africa due to the conflict in Darfur and the civil war in Uganda.Try the Experiment in International Living, they seem to have quite a few volunteer opportunities.
Good luck! :]

Why was Egypt taught separately from Africa? We Answered:
Egypt is obviously in Africa. I am African and Egyptian from Luxor and the cultures have shifted and changed over time. Today we are culturally Arabic because we were dominated by Arabs, we speak Arabic and are mixed with all kinds of stuff like Syrian, Arab, Roman, Greek, Black, Turkish and etc. The Ancients are a different story though because evidence points to an origin of the civilization in East Africa.Jazaria - You are not Egyptian. Don't speak out on things you know nothing about.
toussain - Stop flirting with that Lebanese racist savage. She is not Egyptian but a typical white skinned Arab.

Teaching preschool kids in Africa? We Answered:
What part of Africa are you going to? I had a Montessori teacher from Africa e-mail me recently. I e-mailed back saying how I would love to visit her school sometime. If you contact me via the e-mail link in my profile and let me know your contact information, I can pass it on to her, but I will have to dig up the e-mail.It would be really hard to give an answer unless you say what part you are going to live in. It's like asking to find information on a Montessori school in South America.

Starving kids in Africa....Help adults with contraception!?We Answered:
I am with you! tax dollars should go to bc pills and sex education and condoms instead of us parenting all the unwanted children and poor country children world wide. girls/women are having babies like bunnies and they don't know what to do. Well they know how to have sex that's for sure. BC for all girls/women and condoms for men regardless of their religion.. I get so tired of hearing people call their unborn children accidents when there is prevention. I think all the support our government gives with our tax dollars should be regulated and cut off to those who got on the system with one child and then turn around and have more. Is their religon okay with having kids just to watch them starve and die?
