How do you feel about headstart, teaching kids to dance and sing about pizza hut other fast foods? thank you!?

We Answered:

I learned that song as a little kid in school.

Yes, I have a big problem with it considering how unhealthy it is and how childhood obesity is an issue.

Don't get me wrong, my little ones have eaten food from every fast food restaurant in that song (just a few times in their lives, though) but I agree with you that it's not an appropriate song to teach.

In fact, I might call and say something. Tell them that you'd prefer they not sing that song again while your children are there and suggest an alternative.

One of my favorites to sing to my girlies is:

"I like to eat, eat, eat, apples and bananas" 4 times

then switch it to all the different vowel sounds to sound like:

I like to oat, oat, oat, opels and banonos" 4 times...

do all the vowel sounds thusly and there you go. A healthy song that teaches vowel sounds and gives them the subliminal message that they REALLY like apples and bananas. ;-)

how can I start my own business teaching kids?

We Answered:

good on you for doing it . Go around the schools tell them what u want to do . put it in the news papers and go around the places the children may go for help with class hand out flayers you can also put these doors to door and up in shops
work out how much you want to get for a hour then add VAT this will be 17.5 % of what u get .
You well have to keep a book for the money you get this is for the tax man .
You well also have to pay ur own ni stamp .
if i was you get someone else to do your books tax and the well also work out your ni .

hope this helps
fill out your own tax forms.

what is the best way to explain/ teach business to a kid who is 6 years old?- any games? concepts?-HELP?

We Answered:

You could set up a shop where you buy/sell things. These could be anything. You could also play monopoly with the child (there is a children's monopoly) this will give him an idea on how circulation works. He gives money to the bank to pay for a property and then you get $200 for passing go which includes the money he/she gave to the bank.

Sole proprietership should be pretty easy to explain while your playing a shopping game. Child has shop on their own - they are a sole proprieter. If you have joint ownership then it's a partnership (this can work with any number of people.) I'd leave the more complicated types of ownership until the child is a little bit older.

Money management you could give him pocket money and then show him how to do a budget. The business management thing is a bit more complicated because it has to do with paying wages, buying supplies, paying overheads etc. You could probably do it in a simalar way to the pocket money thing if you go with the shopping game.

This would involve customers paying a certain amount for their goods and then the child has to pay any staff (for example you) their wages which is a certain amount and also has to pay the supplier for the goods which need replacing (for instance the supermarket)

help teaching business studies need to make it more interesting?

We Answered:

Why not get them to act as characters like in the SIMS. Give each student a budget and a list of desirable items (prizes) and essentials(food etc) and let them spend the budget on whatever they want (There is a bigger prize at the end of the 4 or 5 week task) The students must buy enough food to survive for a week, but you also give them the opportunity to invest or save what is left from their budget or buy a prize for themselves. You then introduce sudden expenses for building repairs, car breakdown, a new baby for example. You could also use activities such as these tasks for running a business, running a local council etc.
