How well do you think most schools integrate technology into teaching and learning? We Answered:
It's the fashionable thing to do and a selling point for schools at the moment, but it's probably better to think less about how well they do it, and more about whether it is useful or appropriate. I've heard of really good teachers being hauled over the coals for not using enough technology in their classrooms. The kids were enjoying the class (as much as it is possible to enjoy school) and achieving good results. Why not leave the teacher alone to continue doing a good job?Wendy Said:
what are the importance of educational technology to the teaching-learning process? We Answered:
Basically...you have to have a working knowledge of technology, in general, to better reach your students. You have to be able to know how and why to use different pieces of technology with your students--should you use a Powerpoint, website, I-tunes, or other piece of technology to really help your students understand the subject matter you teach? I heard somewhere that most of the jobs that students today will have in the future HAVE NOT BEEN CREATED YET (technology-based)!! So students need to have contact with technology in the classroom to be prepared for the future. Socio-economically, it's a huge issue, too. Normally, the lower socio-economic classes do not have as much contact with technology, which automatically puts them at a disadvantage in the job world.Charlotte Said:
possibility of educational technology to teaching and learning methodologies? We Answered:
It's been around for a while. It's called media. The most important being the AV Media. When I was 5 and 6 I remember watching Dr. Poson from DePaul University on Chicago NET (now PBS) talking about Einstein's theories and view of the universe and it stuck with me forever. He talked about the ant on a ball thinking it was moving in a straight line as it passed the same point over and over.
He talked about the circular universe and how if you go out in a space ship and travel in a straight line you arrive back at your starting point.
I'm now taking on-line a noted professors course in ORganic Chemistry in which I learned how 20 kilocalories strike us every second and it only takes 3 kilocalories to make a molecular bonding area on Pentane or Heptane rotate.
I learned about how the bonding is done in triplets and how as they rotate they line up occsionally and this is low energy and how the don't line up and this is higher energy.
I'm learning how they bond in different locations to make Isomers which have the same chemical formula but have different names because of where the bonding is such as 2-dimethyl heptane
I'm able to access this at my leasure, replay it to re-study things.
When I was researching TV I found a variety of sites that helped me piece together the broadcast wave form in NTSC, PAL and SECAM.
Prior to the internet I used to have to travel out to several libraries and make notes and photo copies to do this kind of research.

How do classroom teaching and learning behaviors change as a result of incorporating technology-rich ?We Answered:
At my school every student has a laptop which we use instead of paper, and every class room has an interactive whiteboard, and we have an Electronic money system for the canteen where every student puts money on cards, a bit like a credit card.Joseph Said:
What are the benefits of using technology to support the traditional teaching - learning process in school? We Answered:
Technology can supplement the traditional methods of teaching. A teacher using a P.C. can actually demonstrate to the students what he's teaching with examples. The students can be shown how experiments are conducted, how a complicated mechanical device is built etc.Tammy Said:
How does communication technology affect teaching and learning? We Answered:
So we can learn more without face to face teaching.Terrance Said:
Is it desirable to use technology to support teaching and learning in campuse-based courses ? why or why not?We Answered:
Yes,Technology can support teaching and learning by including more senses (visuals to go along with lectures) etc. to provide more input for students and sometimes give them a chance for more active learning. Not everyone is an auditory learner who does well with lectures and technology helps other kinds of learners.
