With your background there is always a chance that you could teach a course for the college (they hire adjuncts to teach a course or two).
If you want to do this on a full-time basis, you will need to go back to school. Any schools of education that I have had contact with will not hire a full-time tenure lined person to teach methods courses unless the person has a doctorate (and not from an online degree program).

I would check to see which textbooks that college is using for the undergrad algebra, trig, and calculus classes, buy those (older editions will work just as well and cost way less), and self-teach using the books. Most textbooks use companion websites if you need study guides and additional help not found in the books. Also, you could try attending a community college and taking the classes, even if you just audited them. Most, in NC anyway, have online math classes if that would be better for you.Brandon Said:

It would be terribly hasty to assume the difference in math scores between the US and other countries is solely due to teaching methods. Yes, US curriculum is "a mile wide and an inch deep," at least up through jr. hi, but then the US is trying to teach EVERYBODY, whereas other countries start sorting the kids out into vocational training vs. academic training very much earlier than we do. They don't waste their time trying to push algebra into the uninterested.There are cultural differences as well. US students don't exactly remain standing out of respect when their teacher enters the room, and far too few of them bother to do their homework.
Until you take socioeconomic and cultural differences into account, differences in teaching methods are likely to be meaningless. The phrase "other things being equal" is almost never true in social research.
