think of translating vagueness to specificity, and specificity to personal claim, and doing it in steps. 1) Think through an "expert" presentation of a chunk no more than 10 minutes long using any tools you have. 2) Ask students to identify the key elements they'd need in order to replicate the anwswer. (e.g. 2 definitions and 3 steps). 3) they write these down, neatly organized, so everyone has a perfect model of the answer. 4) Pair them up, and ask them to ask each other the question(s) you've treated, and raise their hand when their partner has the answer perfectly. 5) have a wall chart with their names. Beside them, post the number of correct answer points as they obtain them--eeg. for the one above, 5 points. Do this process with each new chunk and save all previyous chunks. Yes, you do have to take a test called the Praxis. Since you already graduated with a business degree you can go back to school with something called an alternate route. This will only take a semester to do and then you will have to pass the practice and then you will become a certified teacher. It may seem like a pain to go back to school but there is really no way around it. You might be able to get a job in a high school as a business teacher while your doing the alternate route to become a middle school teacher. Many school districts look for job candidates with experience within the school system, so substitute teaching would be a great way to get your foot in the door towards a classroom of your own. you'll need to retrain slightly, dependant on what you end up doing. IT is what I would suggest an appropriate career - especially programming - which uses a lot of maths skills. Despite the rescession, IT will always be in need as it is used more by the larger businesses to support their massive IT investment to date and they tend to be more rescession proof.Ernest Said:

Give her a chance, your pupils may take a liking to being taught from other methods other than a textbook. You may enjoy it too. They're there to advise and if your head agrees with her I suppose you have to run with it.Good luck.

You'll probably have to complete some additional requirements as far as testing etc. for whatever state you want to be certified in. Check with the State Department of Education in whatever state you think you will want to teach in to find out whether this program is accepted & what the additional requirements are.
