Teaching research papers...help!?We Answered:
Not sure exactly what sort of research paper you are trying for, but there are a few approaches which have been tried and tested -For general in-depth study papers, try the WHo-What-Where-When-Why-How and add what was the impact on ------- (insert 'area' name here).... impress upon them the good paragraph structure, and reinforce the idea that a well-thought and well-written research paper will educate and inform others about the given topic.
For more scientific research papers (to prove a point, using statistics), get them to start with a general question (or question 'area'), then hone that question down to a specific question which contains few variables, and can be 'researched' (through surveys, etc.) to come up with data which will support or refute the research topic (refuting it might not be a 'bad' thing)... this approach will teach the students a structured approach (Juniors can handle it)... and, it will incorporate some of their math skills as well.....
Hope this helps...
