Secondary School teacher, teach in american high school?

We Answered:

At this point in time, your chances might be somewhat limited due to the recession and some states going bankrupt and laying off teachers, usually a recession-proof profession. However, in my district, for example, we have recruiters who recruit teachers from the Philippines. And I know that math and science teachers are usually in high demand. If you can get on with a district where there is a teacher shortage, they will usually work with you and help you get certified in that state. You might have to take a course, but it will be paid for by the district and might be offered at your school in the afternoons or at a district office.

Another option might be to check with Southern Teachers Agency. They are a recruiting organization for private schools in the South. I would have gone with them when I came back to the US, but I had to focus on one particular market near my family so it wouldn't have been worth my while. But if you are flexible about where you will go, they might be just what you are looking for. The school would take care of your visa and private schools often don't have to meet state regulations that require that teachers be certified or be working toward certification.

I think I'm doing the same course as you key stage 2/3 education with ICT?

You will still need atleast a C in GCSE to get onto the course. So you will need to repeat the exam or the coursework to bring you grade up alas.

What A levels should i take to be a secondary school teacher ?

We Answered:

You should teach what you feel you will enjoy more, however there does seem to be a lot of biology teachers around (and out of a job) compared to chemistry and physics teachers. I would suggest instead of sociology or psychology (unless its something you're very interested in, and want to study further as the A level just skims the top) I would drop that and do chemistry or physics as well. That way, even if you do choose to teach biology, you can teach chemistry/physics too. I know my school did that with a few teachers because they're very hard pushed to find them.

Salvador Said:

can you teach secondary school science with a psychology degree?

We Answered:

In the UK you are employed as a teacher and can be asked to teach anything. In reality they do like you to have some knowledge of your subject.

I know someone who in their school career has taught English, Geography, History, RE, Needlework, ICT, Current affairs, Integrated Studies and Mathematics.

Rick Said:

what degrees does one need to be a science teacher?

We Answered:

Hi
Any science Degree will allow you to teach in a secondary school, once you have also completed your PGCE. However, you will find that the number of teaching vacancies for Biology is much lower than for Chemistry and Physics. You will probably need to teach at least two sciences or even the three, but if you are interested and have the required standard, go for Chemistry or Physics.

Good luck
