What are children's rights regarding punishment and teaching in English secondary schools? We Answered:
in England it is the responsibility of the school governors to set a behaviour policy, this is usually following advice from the headteacher, this policy is then applied by the headteacher and other staffa good policy will follow advice from the government, have a look at
http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/wholeschool…
as for quality of teaching, that's down to governors and the headteacher to monitor and promote good quality teaching with periodic checks from Ofsted, and there will be a complaints procedure available for those who think things are not going well,
some people have tried suing schools but none have been successful because a student's progress is down to so many factors and it is difficult to gather evidence of the teaching being at fault, especially as it is usual for other students to succeed with the same teacher

What are current issues with teaching in secondary schools? We Answered:
Homework load seems to be a hot-button issue these days. I just heard a news report on the radio this weekend, stating that assigning more than 15 minutes of homeowrk each night has no effect on the learning process. Personally, I favor working in class and leaving unfinished work only for homework. Students need to become accustomed to working on a deadline, since that is what they will be asked to do in the workplace. Plus, students need to be able to relax and pursue after-school activities in their free-time without being stressed out by excess homework. This is a popular issue among educators, and you should be able to find a lot of research and commentaries on the subject.

Need assignment ideas for teaching argument in secondary schools!?We Answered:
I taught a whole unit on preparing a strong argument. I wish I still had my materials. I teach middle school now. So, I don't teach anything quite that advanced anymore. Right now, I want to look on my computer and see what I can dig up. I will be back to edit my answer. Here are some resources for debate activities and rubrics:

I also introduced my argument unit with a list of fallacious argumentation styles. These were red flags to avoid at all costs.
Argument By Prestigious Jargon:
using big complicated words so that you will seem to be an expert. Why do people use "utilize" when they could utilize "use" ?
For example, crackpots used to claim they had a Unified Field Theory (after Einstein). Then the word Quantum was popular. Lately it seems to be Zero Point Fields.
Non Sequitur:
something that just does not follow
Example: High volumes of traffic are becoming a major issue; therefore, all drivers must wear helmets.
Argument By Scenario:
telling a story which ties together unrelated material, and then using the story as proof they are related.
Argument By Laziness (Argument By Uninformed Opinion):
the arguer hasn't bothered to learn anything about the topic. He nevertheless has an opinion, and will be insulted if his opinion is not treated with respect.
Confusing Correlation And Causation
False Cause:
assuming that because two things happened, the first one caused the second one. (Sequence is not causation.) For example, "Before women got the vote, there were no nuclear weapons." Or, "Every time my brother Bill accompanies me to Fenway Park, the Red Sox are sure to lose."
Essentially, these are arguments that the sun goes down because we've turned on the street lights.

What do you think is better primary or secondary school teaching? We Answered:
one is not better than the other, they are differentmy advice is to think about what you want to do,
if you are interested in helping children grow up to be successful adults then primary is a better bet because you have teaching groups for longer and so have a more significant impact on their development
if you're more interested in a particular subject and what to pass on that enthusiasm then you sound more like a secondary teacher
the best thing is to get some time in a primary classroom to see if you're suited to it
