I say you have a super start. To continue, think of fishing by using a net. In the beginning, cast the net wide by being general. More specifically: Because of the farm life, schools were held in a one room buillding and they related differently from kids today.
Also, because of the farm, student attendance was more limited than it is in modern times and teachers were different. (See how you focus down to two points: the one room building and the rural life as opposed to big schools and a modified rural life.)
This shows what you will discuss. Paragraph 1 would be about the one room school and how it affected the kids. They knew each other well while today students may not even know all the people in a grade level. Also mention how kids helped each other then. Big kids helped the little ones to read etc. Today, you may only know a few older and younger kids.
In the other paragraph talk about kids staying home to do chores or help on projects. Today we have to go to school 180 days (in the US). If you don't, you will get in big trouble. Teachers were hired by families and sometimes they even stayed with them. Nowdays we have lots of teachers in a school.
In the conclusion, just say something like schools and education sure have changed in a hundred years.
