Help Teaching double letter sounds (ai – sail, ay – tray, ir – girl, oa – boat) to children.?We Answered:
Try making silly pictures or stories using the sounds. For example a stoat on a boat with toast on his coat. The children have to hear the target sound each time.Children often get confused between ai and ay when spelling. To help them, print some words on cards (illustrate them or get the children to). Mix up the ai and ay words. Ask the children to sort them into separate piles. Then ask the children to look at the spelling patterns and see what they notice. Then say some more words. Which pile do they think they will go on? (The pattern is that ay is only used at the ends of words = tray, day, play).
Try playing the dice game. Get 3 large cubes in different colours. On the first put some common starting sounds (e.g. s, t). On the second put the double letter sounds ai, ir, oa. On the third put some word endings. Show the children how to roll the dice, put them in the right order (according to the colours) and read the 'word'. Can the children decide if it is a real word? If it is, they write it down. Play in two teams, the one with the most real words at the end wins.

Hi, can you help me with a 'Character trait' lesson plan for foreign students? We Answered:
i think the best bet is to play-act various common/daily-life situations wherein the trait is revealed.if they can read, make little chits with one situation in it & their role/character. i'm thinking as i'm typing, so forgive any clumsiness.
you can use this with pairs of students so that you can bring out the trait & its opposite.
eg. you are a cab-driver. a rich person leaves a wallet in cab. what will you do? or, student 1: keeps wallet. student 2 : returns wallet to owner.
you will need to think of such situations & bring out the traits through reactions.
since there are diff proficiency levels, you can group the class accordingly. make the high proficiency ones enact scenes that have been written & distributed while the lower proficiency ones can sit & try to choose which option they like & why. this way the entire class will be involved & interacting together.
another activity you could try : collate some of the translated terms & make a list for each trait. obviously, choose languages that the students are familiar with. eg. honesty in french, spanish, hindi, & so on & obviously in english [but in a diff color to highlight it]. this way, each student will be able to immediately identify the term in his/her own language & then be able to learn the term in english.
you could also play dumb charades or more like pantomime. as an example, give a french student the word in french & in english. let him/her try to demonstrate that trait through his/her actions & reactions. it needn't all be totally mute as in the actual game. s/he can describe the scenario &/or character a bit. divide the class into mixed groups & the group solving the most traits wins.
hope this gets you started.
all the very best :-)

How do I say no to someone who has asked me for a copy of my lesson plan that I have spent hours on?We Answered:
Tell that person the same thing you told us about not caring about the topic except in a nicer way.For example:
"Sorry, i'm interested in a different topic than the one you have." or
"I feel like I spent too much time on this lesson plan to hand it over to somebody."

Will this be too hard for 3rd Grade? We Answered:
This will be an excellent activity. This will strengthen there ability to make sense of words when placing them into sentences, also spelling them the correct way. At 3rd grade students learn at easier paces than any other grade.Misty Said:
