Kim Said:

How do I tutor children in elementary school?

We Answered:

Contact a local elementary school and tell them that you are interested in tutoring. Tell them specifically what grade levels you want to tutor, and ask if you can put a flyer with your information on the office bulletin board for parents and teachers to see. If you do get hired ask the parent if you can speak to the student's teacher about what they are going over in class. Typically a tutor will help with homework or whatever subject area a student is having difficulty in, not just the 'fun' stuff.

A question for elementary school teachers about prepositions?

We Answered:

In Florida, I don't think most teachers officially teach grammar until middle school (sixth grade), but I learned grammar beginning in the fourth grade in Illinois. You can go to your state's Department of Education website, just do an internet search for it, and look up the state standards, in FL called the Sunshine State Standards, and you'll find out in exactly what grade your state requires prepositions to be taught to be taught and mastered. There is a series of really good books designed to teach parts of speech by Ruth Heller, and I believe they are all poetic and picture books.

Everett Said:

cursive writing in school now?

We Answered:

I am a second grade teacher, and in third grade at my school they are learning cursive. When I was in elementary school, we were required to write in cursive as well. It is slowing being phased out, probably because typing and computers are becoming so much more popular for schools.

Vera Said:

is cursive still taught in elementary school?

We Answered:

yes, its usually taught in 2nd or 3rd grade. but it seems that cursive isn't used as frequently...most kids tend to switch back in middle school

Joshua Said:

How does an elementary school teacher instill good behavior in children?
