If you are thinking of China, there is a great program for about $2600 USD, which includes airfare to China, China Visa Service, and a great orientation. Its called journeyeast.org. Volunteer Opportunities as a Teen Teaching English in China? We Answered:
Don't go with a Church. Try a reputable org like journeyeast. You are too young and not qualified to teach English so you will have a really hard time finding placement.
By the way, avoid teachandtravelchina.com. website has only been up for 1.5 years. Stick with long standing reputable organizations inside the USA.

Volunteer english teaching?We Answered:
You should contact your local TAFE college and see if you are eligible for help. Depending on your visa, you may be eligible for a certain number of hours of English tuition free. If you can't attend classes people who are eligible are able to get a private volunteer tutor. What is your native language? You could offer lessons in that language in exchange for English lesson?Good luck.

Where's a place to volunteer teaching english as a foreign language in Portland, Oregon? We Answered:
Hillsboro is an excellent place to teach English as a second language. At my high school there were over 150 ESL students, and this was less than a third of the total in the district. Contact the Hillsboro school district and see if there are any volunteer opportunities.
