Reb Goldie's Sample list of
Visiting Scholar Teaching Topics
by
Rabbi Goldie Milgram, author of
Reclaiming Judaism as a Spiritual Practice, Meaning and
Mitzvah, & Make Your Own Bar/Bat Mitzvah

[for synagogue/JCC/Hillel/havurah/organizational settings]
The Power of Positive Peoplehood
Jews are 0.2% of the world population. So what are we in the mix of
creation? Baking powder?! Saucy, sanguine and utterly serious, this
post-describable rabbi invites you to consider a compelling vision of
the importance and purpose of the Jewish people within creation.
Meaning and Mitzvah
Expand your understanding of the power and beauty of Jewish practice
through a workshop that opens with a quick inventory of your
relationship to some 60! of the 613 mitzvot - be ready for sweet and
deep surprises as Reb Goldie guides you through beautiful and too-often hidden
territory within Judaism's system for living in a sacred state of
consciousness.
"Reb Goldie's teaching always allows for the creation of a safe space in which
to engage as a whole person
reacting emotionally, intellectually, physically
and spiritually." Beth Clarman, ChicagoDavenology -
Revealing the Deep Structure of the Prayer Service
Energizing, healing, meaningful nutrients are buried in every prayer and
service.
Most of us were given the format and formulas of prayer but not shown
how, in the words of the 13th century Spanish Kabbalist Joseph Gikatilla,
the service may be thought of as a ladder "reaching up to heaven." Our
goal is to reach the highest rung, the unity of being that is pure
peace, to express the prayer of our hearts and to return from services
renewed and ready to re-engage in daily life in healthy and helpful
ways. With her playful outside-the-box experiential teaching methods Reb
Goldie offers a fluoroscopic view of services, revealing how the prayer
themes fit together to create a meaningful and accessible ladder of
spirit.
How to Create a More Meaningful and Memorable Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Whether you are an adult or youth B-mitzvah, parent, grand-parent, tutor or
teacher this session series will give you new tools for preparation, celebration and
appreciation so that your experience will be positive, creative, meaningful
and delightful. Based on Reb Goldie's extensive research and creative program
development funded by the Nathan Cummings
Foundation.
"This program redeemed our family from bar/bat mitzvah stress and
conflict.
Reb Goldie's unique methods lit up our family and our twins with an excitement and
commitment we never expected!" Dan Bender, Boston
Attend the Cosmic Wedding: The Kabbalah of Shabbat
A magnificent holographic wedding drama unfolds every Shabbat that
is the story behind the practices of Kabbalat Shabbat. Learn why table
cloths are white, the original kiddush had 70 words, why there are two
candles according to Jewish mystical tradition, and how the Shechinah
and Kadosh Baruch Hu (Holy One of Blessing) are wed every Shabbat -
inside of you and beyond you. So if Shabbat is a cosmic wedding - who is
the groom? what are the presents? who are the guests? where does the
extra soul come from (neshama yetaira)? Any apparent dualism is an
illusion. Methods will include story-telling, hevruta, meditation, dance
and music.
Adon Olam -Are Science and Judaism Compatible?
Hidden behind archaic translations of this familiar prayer is a
remarkable sequence of G*d concepts that are compatible with science and at
the same time deeply spiritual and inspiring. Come meet the Adom Olam
in a totally new way as your instructor decodes the Hebrew, build your
prayer vocabulary while we unpack and contemplate powerful nature metaphors
that will help bring many other prayers and sacred texts more fully to life.
Rebbe on the Road Stories
Tales of Reb Goldie's remarkable encounters
that reveal the Torah of our people in surprising and beautiful ways. Learn
how Jews live around the world through sacred story-telling - Russia -
Ukraine - Holland - Spain - France- Belgium - England - South Africa - Venezuela - Canada -
USA and more!
Reb Goldie's international travel tales brought laughter,
healing tears, learning and a standing ovation!
